“For everyone, everywhere, literacy is, along with education in general, a basic human right.... Literacy is, finally, the road to human progress and the means through which every man, woman and child can realize his or her full potential.”
About the Heritage Language Resources Hub
This collection of resources was compiled to support maintenance and development of adult migrants’ mother tongues/heritage languages. Designed with educators in mind, this resource provides access to global collections of digital reading materials in hundreds of languages, including many that are less widely spoken and do not have literature that is easily accessible. The websites provide access to a range of materials educators can download or use online with learners. Most of the materials are free, while some are available for a small fee.
The materials are organized into collections for children and adults, with the majority being for children. The materials for children serve as valuable resources for family literacy initiatives.
Explore the collections and use relevant materials with learners in formal and informal education settings. Let us know if you find the Hub resources useful. Suggestions for improving this collection of links are very welcome. You can write to joy@peytons.us with any suggestions or questions that you have.
